“No one can go back and make a brand new start, however, anyone can start
from now and make a brand new ending.”
As I write, COVID continues to claim lives and livelihoods across the Globe.
Many of us are trying to rebuild and restart our lives.
Like COVID, many things can make a person hit rock bottom - a failed
relationship, job loss, passed over for a well deserved promotion, recovering
from a physical injury or major illness which could have been terminal.
All the above scenarios can leave a person disillusioned at that point in time (
in varying degrees) and nothing anyone says or does can be comforting enough
to snap you out of that zone quickly!
People are known to switch field of work, relocate cities, change lifestyle, do
things that help in healing and recovering from that setback!
A close friend used to say “after all these things the graph can’t go down any
further; the good news is from here on it has to go only upwards.”
When you are the aggrieved person and someone tells you that time is a good
healer, have faith - believe in karma, you think “yeah sure and how would you
know!” You are anyway hard on yourself - constantly thinking and judging
yourself for not having seen the red flags to - a) losing that job, a role /
opportunity for growth or promotion, b) losing the love of your life because
only if… and c) asking yourself if your health issues were truly avoidable!!!
My own personal and professional life is filled with lessons learnt, experiences
and wisdom gained. In a nut shell I think :
1. Have a healthier take on those events described usually as
rock bottom and dead ends. Think of them as a detour and
an opportunity to reset life. You could probably be
accelerating on a completely new journey.
2. At work we agree that Change is the only constant. Why do
we then resist it in personal lives. I have realized
that there’s beauty in starting over. When somethings end,
other things begin. The healthier way to think about life is
to surrender to it.
3. New beginnings provide new opportunities for growth as a
person - emotionally and spiritually! You may become
a better version of yourself that didn’t exist before.
4. And for heaven’s sake stop being hard on yourself. That
was the best you knew then and hopefully now you have
figured out what does work.
I suggest you too reflect on your experiences and make a new beginning if
need be!
With all my love and affirmations,
M
